Comparison of online payment systems for online shops

Choosing an online payment system is not the easiest task and requires a clear definition of your needs and expectations. What should you consider when choosing a payment gateway? What should you pay attention to in order to avoid problems and ensure not only the security of the transaction itself, but also quick access to the money earned from the sale?

Firstly, the online payment system that we make available to buyers in our online store should be tailored to the needs of our target group. Here, it is essential to know the preferences of our customers – it is worth considering, among other things, the age of buyers and the type of products we offer.

There is one universal solution that will appeal to most online shop customers – virtually every online payment system available offers the option of fast transfers, which make shopping much easier for both busy people and those who do not like SMS payments and do not have a debit/credit card.

In the comparison below, we focused on the most important criteria for payment systems: payment methods, advantages of the system itself, transaction processing time, costs of withdrawals from the temporary account, and the possibility of using the system by individuals.

The comparison covers the four most popular online payment systems, including PayU, Transferuj.pl, DotPay, SIX Payment Services and Przelewy 24.

PayU

An online payment system well known to all sellers and buyers on the Allegro platform. For the first 3 months, sellers can take advantage of a 0% commission for transactions with a total value of up to PLN 50,000.

Advantages:

  • Quick registration and the option to activate payments on the same day
  • Ease of use
  • The system offers many payment methods, including express ePrzelewy transfers, VISA, VISA Electron, MasterCard and Maestro card payments, as well as PayU instalments with 0% commission throughout the entire credit period and online handling of all formalities
  • Automatic completion of payment forms
  • Quick and easy integration with Allegro, PrestaShop, OpenCart, and more
  • Possibility to withdraw funds accumulated in the temporary account on the next working day after the payment is credited
  • No minimum withdrawal amount
  • Easy-to-use Management Panel that facilitates transaction management
  • High security standards and data encryption
  • Free withdrawals from your account

Disadvantages:

  • The PayU system is not intended for individuals. Another disadvantage is the lack of a predetermined price list, which is prepared for each customer individually.

What do customers think about PayU?

In this case, positive opinions about the operation of this payment system prevail, but sometimes we encounter reported problems with prolonged payment processing times and long waits for the transfer of accumulated funds. High commissions are also among the disadvantages – the data is presented in a comparison table at the end of the article.

And the advantages?

DotPay

DotPay is a payment system with a long history and a number of regular customers. Advantages

  • The system allows you to use many forms of payment, including Visa, Visa Electron, MasterCard, Maestro, mobile payments, fast transfers and instalment payments.
  • Ease of use
  • High functionality and the ability to integrate with many e-commerce platforms.

What do customers think about DotPay?

There are more negative opinions about DotPay than about other systems. However, it is worth noting that those published online are not always up to date, and the system improves its functionality year on year. The biggest complaints are the long payout times and the lack of clear transaction statements. You can find information about commissions in the table at the end.

SIX Payment Services

SIX Payment Services is another company offering comprehensive online payment solutions. In this case, the services are also tailored to the individual needs of customers, and their scope is similar to that of the competition. What do customers think about SIX?

Customers using SIX’s services praise above all the wide range of services, fast transfers and the option of multi-channel sales. What can be both an advantage and a disadvantage is that the price list is available after ordering the service and is determined individually according to the needs of each customer.

Przelewy24

Its long history has allowed it to gain a number of regular customers among sellers and buyers. In this case, it is worth praising the simplicity of use and the possibility of adapting the functionality to user preferences. The system, like its predecessors, offers a temporary account from which the seller then orders the withdrawal of the accumulated funds.

  • Ease of use and functionality
  • Services for individuals and companies
  • Possibility of immediate withdrawal of accumulated funds

You can read about other system features here: https://securionpay.pl/funkcjonalnosci/

Disadvantages?

Slightly higher rates compared to the previously discussed systems.

Conclusions

The choice of an online payment system depends on individual needs and the amount that can be spent monthly on online transfer services. However, it cannot be denied that each of the above systems has significantly more advantages than disadvantages, and their functionality does not differ much from one another. It is also worth remembering that customer reviews found on the Internet cannot be used as a guide when making a choice, as they are often out of date, and any problems with the functioning of the systems are rather isolated cases.
